The MIMO 8×8 can be configured as either a 1x MIMO 4×4 or 2x MIMO 2×2 RF-MIMO systems built around the scalable FlexTiles architecture with Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs and an optional TI MultiCore C6472 DSPs which can be integrated into a 2U 19” enclosure, but comes as standard as open-frame desktop unit with clear plastic covers and high performance cooling fans.
The Virtex-6 FPGAs are available for Users and all source-code will be provided to implement extra functions, using the Xilinx ISE tools. The FPGA has multiple methods of communication with the “World”, either using the Ethernet Interface or one of the PCIe Cabled interfaces. The SATA connectors can either be used for interface to a hard disk or to interface to another FlexTiles platform.
SMT166-SX475-911-4 is a flexible hardware solution which consists of 8 RF transceivers for 2.4GHz and 5GHz ISM bands each connected to two receiving and two transmitting antennas, using high-resolution dual 12-bit, 50MSPS A/D and 12-bit, 200MSPS D/A converters for the RF/IF signal conversions. Baseband processing is directly handled by two Virtex-6 FPGAs.
The SMT166-SX475-911-4 is customizable and the development platform has a variety of communication ports: USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet for remote network re-configurations and PCI Express Cable for Host Communication to a PC.
